whats been going on here!

ive been ignoring this blog as of late, spending most of my time on my homesteading blog.

with that being said theres probably slme stuff that i can post here!

first off the house is coming along nicely. as far as the interior goes we are almost finished. just need to paint and and add two doors! ...and make a decision about flooring.

we have put baby making on the back burner to pursue adoption again. I still want to have a baby but at this point I feel adoption is a better fit for our family ( of course that depends on how this election turns out).

Ive taken a step backwards in how we live. the cheapest way to get off of the grid is to simply unplug. Our washing machine broke a few weeks ago.  it has been replaced with a 100+ year old wringer!

sorry this post is boring!! lol there really isnt anything exciting going on right now.

Holiday knitting will be coming up soon....

p.s i want a wall mounted clothes dryer.

Could NOT resist!

I found these vintage wooden shoe forms at an antique shop today. I just couldn't walk out without them! They had 3 sets, but I only.purchased these tiny ones.

I figured they'd be great for trying baby booties when I'm knitting for Invisibaby.  Aren't they just too much!

I found a yarn swift there too, in good working order. But that isn't as cute or exciting as the wee wooden shoe forms

First positive OPK for wordless wednesday

Baby brain!!

Lover and I decided to bump up our attempt at a babe by one month. So instead of starting in September,  we're starting in August. Weeeeeee!! I can't begin to explain how excited I am. I've been obsessively reading A.I blogs ( artificial insemination ) and looking up new knitting patterns and DIY maternity clothes.

I need to distract myself- So- let the TTC fun begin!

Its TTC time again!

Lover and I decided we'd try to get knocked up again this fall. I'm definitely going to try in September and possibly again in November.

This means of course That I have to start my baby dust hope.chest knitting again ( especially since I've given about 60% of what I've made so far to friends that came up pregnant!).

All I Have left really is the abundance of cloth diapers, and that's because my preggo buddies aren't going that route.

So- as soon as I finish a couple baby gifts, and a belated mothers day gift ( socks) I will start posting pictures of little knits that make me smile.

I'm going to start my OPKs this month ( ovulation prediction kits) as well as taking prenatal vitamins.  I've already switched to half-caf ( which I hate).

I've also decided to try soy isoflavones for my September cycle. Its used as an herbal/natural form of clomid, a fertility drug that aids  ovulation. Its supposed to increase cervical mucous and help follicles to mature quicker. I've found no solid evidence that it actually works but I'm willing to give it a try anyhow.

Stay tuned!

A quick baby gift for teacher.

I found out recently that one of my college teachers had a baby! There's actually two teachers, a married couple, and I liked them both.

This pattern is from ravelry. I did change it a little. I pointed the neck strap so the it resembles a leaf and I added a long  i-cord To tie the bib on instead of sewing on a button. Great use of small yarn remnants!

thrift store score

I originally purchased this wool lace top to frog for the DJ weight yarn in a fabulous color. For $3, I just couldn't walk away.

However after mulling it over for a bit and trying it on I decided it was much too magnificent to rip out.  I had to go outside in the sun to get accurate pics of the color.

My heart weeps for the loss of time someone put Into this rockin' piece of knitting. I tip my hat to you mystery knitter,  for you have a strength I find admirable and I lack. ( or maybe it just looked ugly on you)
